TJ & Pals Launches A Unique Line Of Educational Apps For Kids

TJ & Pals Launches A Unique Line Of Educational Apps For Kids

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) November 29, 2011

Umachaka Media Inc., headed by award winning film director Ashley Lazarus, has just launched a new line of educational apps for pre-schoolers. With these creative new games, TJ & Pals has figured out how to utilize verified educational principles to provide kids with a learning experience without even realizing that they are learning.

TJ & Pals has been approved by educators all over the country because it’s games and activities have solid educational foundations. Lazarus explains, “kids have a remarkable intuitive ability to tune in…to absorb information…to process…to sort out complexity…to learn.” Adults and kids learn differently. Adults intellectualize; kids learn intuitively. When Lazarus developed his apps he constantly asked himself, ‘how would a child think about this?’ and he created his apps accordingly.

Umachaka has designed apps for the ipad and the computer that provides kids with games, songs, puzzles, stories and videos that aim to challenge kids on their level, unbeknownst to the giggling children at the computer screen. TJ’s Puzzle Fun is an app that provides kids with a choice of four puzzles on four different levels. When your child completes the puzzle the picture comes to life in a song or video which the child can freely watch again and again. Puzzles are an excellent means of improving a child’s spatial awareness and problem solving skills. The songs and videos at the end of the puzzles are a wonderful way of providing positive reinforcement for a job well done.

TJ’s Remember is a memory game played on one of three levels of difficulty with six colorful themes to choose from. When a child finds a match she is rewarded with a playful tune. This game is a fun way to develop a child’s memory.

TJ’s Seek&Find is an app in which a child is presented with one of four scenes such as a toy store or a circus. He is asked to locate ten items in that scene. Once he finds those items he is transported to another scene, such as a child’s bedroom, where he is asked to match the items with shapes that are in the bedroom. When the items are placed in the proper place the bedroom comes to life with music and dancing. This app develops a child’s pre-reading skills as well as a child’s self-esteem.

TJ’s Picture Dictionary is a colorful talking dictionary that is suitable for young children. It allows kids access to new words and ideas and is perfect for an audience of pre-readers who are building their vocabularies.

TJ’s Art Studio is for those budding artists to draw, paint, and stamp their way into fame and fortune (or their parents’ refrigerators, whichever comes first). A pencil named TJ with his friends Dabney the paintbrush, the Koki markers, and Butch the eraser are the tools that children use to play with their A,B,C’s and 1,2,3’s as well as make pictures for their friends and family members in this portable art studio.

Umachaka Media Inc. has developed imaginative ways to teach children ages 3-5 through creative, interactive games and activities that will keep them coming back for more. As designer and developer Ashley Lazarus says, “The more fun and interactive learning is the more effective it is. Every game, activity, How To, and story we create at TJ & Pals is based on this principle.”

Two New Music Franchises Join Rhythm Time in January 2012

Two New Music Franchises Join Rhythm Time in January 2012

Claire Matthews, New Owner of one of Rhythm Time’s Music Franchises

Solihull, West Midlands (PRWEB UK) 18 November 2011

Rhythm Time is proud to announce that two additional franchisees will be joining the Company in the new year, bringing the total number to 37 franchises across the UK.

This continued growth means that Rhythm Time can now offer their educational music classes to young children in Salisbury and Thirsk in Yorkshire.

Owner and founder, Kathy Doolan is delighted with the continued interest in her music franchises from talented individuals. “I am very impressed with the quality of people who want to join our growing and successful business” she says. “It enables us to share our passion for providing educational music classes to babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers and to help with their development through music.”

Kathy started Rhythm Time in 1995 and after a highly successful first five years, started to sell her music franchises in 2000. The first franchise was bought by Frances Donkin in Cheshire and her award winning franchise continues to be the largest in the business.

Claire Matthews, new owner of the Salisbury franchise, is already well underway filling her classes for the new year. “I’ve already filled one demonstration class and I’m now busy booking another” she says. “I’m thrilled that so many people are already familiar with the Rhythm Time name and want to book classes” she adds.

Fiona Abbott, who has bought the Thirsk franchise, is also excited about her new venture. “I’ve always loved music and so this is my perfect career as it fits around my family commitments” she quotes. “I also looked at the competition, however Rhythm Time was clearly more educational and I could see how effective it was in developing a child’s confidence, creativity and co-ordination.”

In all their music franchises, Rhythm Time’s unique set of music courses have been specifically written by Kathy (previously Head of Music at a Scottish school) and created to help every child’s development. The classes are aimed at different age groups, specifically:music classes for babies(from birth to 15 months), music classes for toddlers (15 months to 3 years), and music classes for pre-school (3 – 5 years). Kathy is a strong advocate of music being crucial in helping to develop a child’s speech and language from an early age and this forms a key element in all the classes.

Rhythm Time now operates in over 200 different premises throughout the UK, helping more than 10,000 children a week to enjoy an early start to the benefits of music. It is an established company offering exceptional opportunities to those wanting to invest in successful children’s music franchises.

If you would like to know more about Rhythm Time and the opportunities it can offer, contact Kathy Doolan at Rhythm Time on 0121 711 4224 or visit the Rhythm Time website.

Rhythm Time was started in Solihull in 1995 by Kathy Doolan. After a very successful five years, Kathy decided to franchise the business in 2000.

Rhythm Time now has franchises all over the UK, operating in 200 areas with over 10,000 children attending classes.

Rhythm Time offers three age-appropriate classes for babies (birth to 15 months), toddlers (15 months to three years) and pre-school (three to school age).

Children come to Rhythm Time as tiny babies and progress to toddler and pre-school classes, enjoying a wonderful introduction to music.

All the courses have been created by Kathy, who trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama in Glasgow.

Kathy previously was head of music in a Scottish school and shares with all franchisees and teachers a real passion and belief in the importance of music during a child’s formative years.

Kathy is a strong believer that singing unaccompanied helps to develop a child’s speech and language from an early age and this forms a key element in all the classes.

Fiona Abbott and Claire Matthews will be providing their new music classes to babies and young children in January 2012. Fiona will be operating in the Thirsk area of Yorkshire and Claire will be providing classes in the Salisbury area.

Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Therapies Introduces New, Improved Website

Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Therapies Introduces New, Improved Website

(PRWEB) July 30, 2004

Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Resources, creator of the world’s original video modeling programs specifically for pre-schoolers to teens with developmental, cognitive and learning disabilities, announces the launch of a new website at http://www.special-kids.com.

According to John Sprecher, founder of Special Kids, the new website “offers our many clients around the world — boys and girls with developmental disabilities, their parents and loved ones, therapists, teachers, caregivers, health care providers, libraries, schools and more — access to many exciting new products, services, research, experience sharing and information about educating pre-schoolers, children and teens with autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, hyperlexia and other learning challenges.”

The new website features the following exciting, effective new products and services:

• Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Programs” (dvd format). Previously available only in vhs format, a total of 10 effective Special Kids programs are now available in dvd. A recent Exceptional Parent magazine review called the programs outstanding at teaching “what to expect and how to behave, plus relevant language skills such as labeling, writing, reading and sequencing.” The reviewers concluded that Special Kids Programs are “ fun and entertaining — great for all kids!”

• Video Modeling Research. A new section presents a wide variety of clinical research that demonstrates the effectiveness of video modeling, as pioneered by Special Kids, in teaching pre-schoolers to teens with learning disabilities.

• Look-‘N’-Learn Interactive Flashcards”. New highly visual computer software programming that serves as both interactive and printable flashcards.

• Step-by-Step Behavior Models”. New illustrated, laminated sequencing cards that can help special learners acquire positive social skills in their environment.

• Positive Message Lesson Stories”. Everything from picture books (autographed on request) to downloadable stories, by Special Kids founder and award-winning writer John Sprecher.

• Ruby C. Williams Signature Series Funwear”. Acclaimed southern folk artist Ruby C. Williams puts her colorful artistic impressions to Special Kids’ positive messages for children and parents.

• Parent Praise. A chance for others to read about the positive experiences they and their children with disabilities have had, learning from Special Kids.

Founded in 1993, the development of Special Kids was based on the success that Sprecher’s son demonstrated in acquiring speech, self-help and social skills through personal videos Sprecher made for his son. As other children with developmental disabilities in the local community also acquired skills by watching these “home programs,” Sprecher was encouraged to tell his story. Following an article in an Autism Society of America publication, Sprecher received more than 300 letters from around the world from excited parents, therapists and teachers — all encouraging him to produce a series of video modeling programs for their “highly visual” children with disabilities. Encouraged by this response, Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Programs was launched, and is now helping children and teens in more than 30 countries (1/6th of the world!) and 500 U.S. school systems. Confirming Sprecher’s hunch, university and hospital studies have subsequently concluded that video modeling can be a highly effective strategy for teaching children and teens with disabilities speech, writing, reading, social, self-help, play and other skills.

Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Resources also offers review samples available by request. For more information, visit http://www.special-kids.com, e-mail info@special-kids.com or call 1-800-KIDS-153.

New Book: “The ABCs of Parenting Pre-schoolers” by Carol Katrana

New Book: “The ABCs of Parenting Pre-schoolers” by Carol Katrana

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 5, 2007

Carol Katrana’s new book, “The ABCs of Parenting Pre-schoolers,” evolved from the hundreds of presentations she has given to parents of young children during the past 20 years – and almost as many requests for a concise collection of her suggestions and observations.

The new book provides a simple, poignant source of parenting inspiration and quick, easy-to-remember reminders of how truly valuable parents are to their children.

According to Katrana, “I encourage parents of pre-schoolers to spend a little time with these ABCs and discover – or rediscover – what their little ones need in order to thrive at home and at school. This book is intended to offer encouragement from a voice of experience. It’s not a dense textbook or a book on pre-school academics. Instead, it provides lessons in building strong parent-child relationships that create well-adjusted, academically successful children.”

“The ABCs of Parenting Pre-Schoolers” (ISBN: 0-595-46240-5; $ 13.95, released by iUniverse, Inc.) can be ordered online at: http://www.amazon.com, http://www.iuniverse.com, or by calling 1-800-AUTHORS.

About Carol Katrana. For two decades, Carol has helped create fun, loving learning environments for thousands of children. New ?Coastline Critters? Episode Reinforces the Importance of Hands-On Learning in Early Childhood Development

New ‘Coastline Critters’ Episode Reinforces the Importance of Hands-On Learning in Early Childhood Development

Gloucester, MA (PRWEB) October 20, 2010

Since its launch, The Adventures of Scuba Jack series has taken a unique approach to early childhood learning and development by keenly focusing on interactive, multi-dimensional content designed to engage pre-schoolers in the learning process. In “Coastline Critters,” the most recent episode in the series, the creator continues to reinforce the importance of hands-on learning by pairing engaging, educational video with hands-on exercises and activities to boost comprehension and retention and cultivate a love for learning.

According to a study conducted at Purdue University, as well as research by leading educators across the U.S., hands-on learning promotes higher levels of engagement and comprehension and a deeper understanding of concepts. As a result, pre-schoolers exposed to hands-on learning are more likely to excel and become successful learners in kindergarten and beyond.

“As teachers, we can tell our students how to fix a car or we can bring them to a garage to show them how to fix a car – which do you think is better?” said Beth Costanzo, preschool owner and creator of The Adventures of Scuba Jack. “With the advent of the No Child Left Behind Act and other initiatives, educators have become focused on teaching kids to take tests, which promotes rote memorization rather than long-term learning. The hands-on approach is key to not only helping children of all ages boost retention, but also develop a love for learning.”

Newly released “Coastline Critters” is the second episode in The Adventures of Scuba Jack, a groundbreaking series that explores ocean life with the help of a cast of colorful characters. By design, the series delivers engaging, informative and fun content that promotes the processes of exploring, experimenting and inquiring. All episodes are accompanied by nearly 30 craft activities, worksheets and reading materials that can be downloaded free from the show’s website.

The hands-on activities, along with the video, help to increase creativity, skill proficiency, communication skills, independent thinking and reading readiness among pre-school age children. In addition to preparing pre-schoolers for academic success, The Adventures of Scuba Jack series also equips parents with the tools and resources they need to become active participants in their children’s academic development.

“The experiences gleaned during the years before kindergarten greatly impact pre-schoolers’ attitudes toward formal schooling, and form their foundation for future success in education,” said Costanzo. “So it’s extremely important that parents and educators expose children to hands-on learning experiences as early and often as possible to begin charting a course of excellence.”

To purchase “Coastline Critters” or other episodes in the series, and to download the accompanying worksheets and activities, visit http://www.adventuresofscubajack.com. The episodes are suggested for children ages 2-6. The website also offers learning activity books, “Dinosaurs”, “Fairies”, “Oceans”, “Pirates” and “Rainforests” as well as other educational products and materials.

A hands-on learning tip sheet and featured craft activity is available to the media for publication. To request a copy, contact Beth Costanzo at 978-491-0747 or beth@adventuresofscubajack.com.

About “The Adventures of Scuba Jack”

Created by Beth Costanzo, owner of a New England-based preschool, “The Adventures of Scuba Jack” is a series of interactive and educational DVDs that teach children valuable scholastic and moral lessons by exploring the wonders of ocean life. Each DVD features a cast of colorful and exciting characters and accompanying worksheets and other curriculum materials to reinforce the content and concepts in the episodes. Since the series’ launch, it has gained popularity among children, stay-at-home moms, daycare providers and preschool teachers.
